Lego itself as pattern

using LEGO Photo, iPhone application (link)

Lego is one kind of pattern. A Lego object is constructed by lego elements. Each element can be said identical because their shape and manufacturing system are standardized. Every blocks are compatible to others. Of course, there are the exception, special parts of technic line. They are able to be assembled anyhow. These identical blocks consist of one object. It's easy to find single unit in a block. When it comes to repetition, it is not predictable in the whole object. Still, Lego has its repetitive concept in each block. Therefore, I want to separate each block to single unit as my pattern.

In computer science, pattern is used in the JPEG compression. The image is divided into a grid pattern of equal-size tiles. Then each tile is analyzed independently to find the dominant patterns. When more compression is applied, both the tiles and the patterns within tiles may be seen. (link) In the most compression rate or more, the image looks like 8-bit image. This image is very similar to the image on the top taken by LEGO photo app. It reminds me old 8-bit games. They were one of great pleasure in childhood like LEGO. From this link, I am going to adapt images from 8-bit games into my pattern, such as colors & rhythms.
